Updates & Answers

Heyo! Hope you all are well. I’ve been thinking about many things- for those who know me I definitely need the extra time to think because I have the habit to forget many things (like how I lost my wallet twice the past two days…) welp wish me luck there lol.  It is 2am at the moment and I am writing this wonderful blog of answers, and updates.  I feel surprised, refreshed and alive.  Well there’s no other question to ask – who’s down for a jog or a sheetz run?!  It may be a challenge to read this whole blog, trust me it took me strength just to proofread this, but I encourage you to READ ALL THE WAY THROUGH FOR IMPORTANT UPDATES.

Can we ask ourselves this- what was one thing out of the many that jumped to our thoughts once we came to realization of our “new normal”?  First off I woke up on that crisp Thursday morning ready to actually be at school on time and then my mother broke the news…  We both responded almost the same way.  I instantly thought how this virus was just at its beginning and how horrible and chaotic it was going to get.  My peeps may call me out for this- but I was scared, frozen with fear.  I didn’t know what was going to happen. All I could think of was that Mrs. Rona (referring to coronavirus for those struggling with this) was going to ruin and take this opportunity to experience God’s beauty on the field with the World Race.  All I have to remember is He is greater than diseases, greater than our problems, greater than my six missing wallets, and how He is greater than Covid-19.

I get it.  Many and I mean M A N Y trips, vacations, mission trips, plans have been canceled so it can be easy to think “welp the World Race is just another trip that is soon to get canceled since everything is”…  WELL great news!  Our trip got pushed back!  Here is a message from Adventures In Mission which I think is encouraging- ”again, we are continually assessing the realities around the world and any impact they may have on our plans in late summer and fall.  This includes developing contingency plans, where we can, that allow us to fulfill the heartbeat of our mission which is to bring the hope of Christ to a world that desperately needs it.”  From our original launch day which was August 1st we will now be leaving in the middle of September, believe the 16th is when we head to the Airport!  We will be heading to Gainesville, Georgia September 1st at Adventures In Missions HQ, “home base” for training camp.  After about two weeks of training, experiencing what it would be like, learning the hows, the whys, and the whats, gaining knowledge about the Lord, growing in friendships, and so much more!

Deadlines can be scary sometimes I will say i’ve stumbled a couple of times with this in english (my bad Mr. White…), however I can report back to you all that- we are going steady!  By July I have the first deadline of $5,000 that needs to be funded.  Sincerely- thank you to everyone who has already been able to donate! A question that I want to cover that a few people have asked me is “what happens to donations if the trip happens to get canceled?”  All the donations can either be refunded and sent straight back to you all or if I wish too it can be put towards another trip say the next year or a summer trip, etc.  A thought I struggled with was “how am I supposed to ask for money during such a tough time for others.  All I could really come up with was to trust Him. I’m extremely excited to follow this path and see where it takes me.

Peace out homies,

Josh Pohl “JP”
