Declaring Freedom Over Life // Down In My Heart Series // Part 1

On campus at Adventures in Missions, we all started our mornings with devotionals before diving into the routine our leaders demonstrated and led some devotionals. One of my leaders spoke about declarations, declaring things over the day. Today I want to do just that- declaring freedom over life. I’m eighteen years old and it was just a year and half ago that I declared freedom over my life- when I said yes to Jesus welcoming Him into my life. For years I created this idea and image of Jesus which made it complicated for me to understand. Receiving Jesus is quite simple, like in Romans 10:9 if you Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead that you will be saved. All it takes is proclaiming the news verbally and believing in your heart. Like in Polar Express when the main character was told to “just believe”, it didn’t just take Santa to tell him to believe, but better yet it took believing himself. Same thing with Jesus we can hear all the time to “just believe” but it takes our self to believe in our heart and have faith in something greater than our thinking and what we can see.

The Lord desires for you to have a joyful, ambitious, and purposeful life. God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). He so loved you He sent Jesus so we don’t have to live a life of punishment. You’re God’s great design. He designed you in His image.  He created you on purpose, with a purpose, and for a purpose. Also know that God has a plan for us all no matter who we are.  If you are doing something in your life that makes you happy, then great, but if you are feeling like everything you have tried to make ends meet within your life aren’t working very well, it may be time to turn to God.  Make the time to spend with God and ask him what it is he wants you to do.  He is your guide to where you want to be in your life.  Once you put your old life behind you and choose to give your broken self to Jesus and to allow your heart to be mended, you will finally see what the plan is for you.  Fully commit your entire being to Jesus and have an intimate relationship with him.  Your life will change and that darkness will now turn to light. He’s waiting.

Living for Jesus brings you endless joy. I’ll be posting ways we can live this out in Part 3 of this series! I’d love to share a story with you that I experienced the other night where I encountered a man who lives Joy out. One of my last nights in Georgia after a worship night a couple of my squad mates and I went to Waffle House around 12a for a bite to eat. The night turned into a joyful one because of T-mac who was an employee working his overnight shift. Joy illuminated from him. T-mac has worked for the company for over 10 years and is grateful everyday so he decides to live it out and be joyful. Meeting T-mac reminded me that we can choose to live joyfully and have the decision to allow Jesus in our life. A life that can be chainless and a life where we’re set free. Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One! (Philippians 4:4)

My prayer for you today is that the God of hope will fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. ROMANS 15:13 Leave a comment or shoot me a text and let me know what you think? Let’s chat.

God bless,

JP

  1. JP it’s so encouraging to see your desire for MORE OF GOD! That is a clear desire of your heart. More of Him, more of His Love; not just in your life but in the lives of every one of His children! You will never run out of God, you will never run out of more of Him. He goes on forever!! Love you JP. -Justin
