The Growing Seed

He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

Just as a planted seed starts to grow, the word of God starts to deepen and grow within a person. A seed can be planted but never flourish into anything. It depends on being fed and nourished in order to bloom and harvest. The other day my teammate Josh was sharing with me how we don’t just want to have faith as small as a mustard seed, yes it starts there; however you want that faith to grow. Start with the seed, but allow it to sprout. For a seed to grow it needs three things: light, food and water. So, spiritually talking what does that look like? God is light, in him there is no darkness (1 John 1:5). Feed yourself with God’s word, try revolving your day around him. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6). I want my faith not to just start and end with a seed but it grow to be a massive tree that bears fruit with deep roots.

In just a few weeks it will mark three years since I started attending church regularly. Crazy how from an invite, just an invite affected my whole life. My journey with Jesus has and is definitely not a walk in the park. There’s days where it feels like I’m in the lowest valley or lost in a maze where I can’t find my way out. You see, Jesus and help from his beautiful broken children (which by the way aren’t so broken in his eyes) have removed the boulders out of my life that were blocking an entrance for seeds to be planted. Walking with Jesus and allowing Him in isn’t the easiest thing in this world, but Jesus never said it was easy; better yet He said it would bring you eternal life (John 10:27-28) What did I do? I nailed it ALL to the cross- actually got to physically do that. I wrote down what I needed to lay at His feet. ALL of my burdens that kept me away from experiencing the fullness of God.

Whenever I think about the Lord and how He has walked me through life brings me to tears. Mark my words when I say that I would not be where I am today without Jesus, that is the truth.  Accepting Jesus into my life, living for him is and will ever be the best decision in my life. Through Jesus many are being saved and woken up from their slumber, His children who have been lukewarm are now on fire for Him. One word that comes to mind to what God has done in my life is, breakthrough. A breakthrough in my heart to my dad’s life, little brother’s and my mothers. A story with endless praise to Jesus. Boy. How it takes just a seed, just a seed form deep roots that can combine and merge to grow many plants. Not only did my seed grow, but because of what Jesus did for us on the cross i’ve seen many  seeds be planted in peoples lives.

Jeez, I’m getting carried away. Okay, now let me tell you about my experience with the world race which has impacted me a great deal. Again, let me testify how good God is because of where I was at to where I’m at now. Week one SUCKED. You heard that correctly, the first week I spent tons of time crying. For the first time ever I began walking out the path of forgiveness and healing. Allowing me time to let Jesus heal my heart to show me where to start. To move forward I had to go back to my past which was one of the hardest things to do. Though I learned that sometimes in order to move forward you have to take a couple steps back. Doing so can shape the way your present and future can look. To give you some encouragement in this, know that God doesn’t call you the name of your past, but the name of your future. Walking this and living this week one allowed me to experience the freedom that the Lord only brings. I was set free.

So, what did I learn? Truly, I have learned a WHOLE LOT, but let me try to sum it up.

I learned the power of manifesting, and declaring all in Jesus’ name.

I learned the importance of community.

I learned that the church is truly a building without walls.

I learned that Jesus is the Son of God.

I learned that I’m nothing without the Holy Spirit.

I learned that God CAN move mountains.

I’m a child of God and guess what? So are you. I want you to try something crazy. Pray, right now. Invite the Lord to come alongside you, He’s there and has been so present in your life. He is so abundant and so are your opportunities in this world. Remove the boulder. Allow the seed to be planted. Allow it to flourish, let the light in, feed it and water the seed. Don’t just stay a seed but be a tree with roots and fruit.

A song below is my prayer over my life and yours as well. May God continue to bless. Till next time. Love you all.

As I walk now through the valley

Let Your love rise above every fear

Like the sun shaping the shadow

In my weakness Your glory appears

I’m not enough unless You come

Will You meet me here again

‘Cause all I want is all You are

Will You meet me here again

I’m not enough unless You come

Will You meet me here again

‘Cause all I want is all You are

Will You meet me here again
